Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
