Vinted Members Voice Frustration About Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
